For the ninth time in 365+ days…

July 10, 2009

I’m moving again!

I’ve got it down to a science.

Packing only takes me a few hours. My four friends who are moving with me are freaking out over packing possessions that have stayed in one place for at least a year. These are the places I’ve lived in the last 365+ days:

May 2008: from a house in Gainesville to Luis’s house

June 2008: from Luis’s house to Kim Ross’s

August 2008: from Kim Ross’s to Luis’s

August 2008: from Luis’s house to Stephanie Richmond’s condo :)

January 2009: from visiting my parents in Texas to a mansion in Switzerland

June 2009: from Switzerland to a house in Gainesville

July 2009: an apartment in Ocala, Florida.

We’re signing a one-year lease, so I’m committing to at least a year as an assistant editor at Atlantic Publishing. I’m needing a huge dose of stability and good friends. My new roommates are Erin Everhart and Nicole Orr. It will feel weird to live in one place for so long, but it will feel good.

The five of us who have been commuting from Gainesville to Ocala every day (a 45-minute drive each way) are moving into the same apartment complex. We are every real estate agent’s dream come true: five girls with jobs and a good credit score moving in on one day. Although we are taking up two apartments, I consider Holly Gibbs and Marilee Griffin our roomies too.

I tried to persuade our newbie, Amy Moczynski, to move in with us, but our leases were set and she wants to live with a friend. Amy was hired last week and her first day is Monday. She’ll be living in Gainesville and making the commute to Ocala every day. I’m so excited to have Amy join the APC office. We worked together at the Alligator during my last semester at UF and we had several classes together. We’ve kept in touch (even sent postcards to each other when I was in Switzerland and she was working in D.C.), and when I knew APC was looking for amazing UF graduates, Amy’s the first person whose resume I passed on to our president.

Today we all sign leases, and I must be so excited I can’t sleep. I woke up at 3 a.m. I am thinking of so much right now. I might need Starbucks before work.

You may have noticed I finally starting including links in my entries. This is something I should have been doing in Switzerland. I also should have been including pictures. When I tried to describe places like Davos or Barcelona, I’m sure pictures may have helped. I will start retroactively adding photos to my entries. More differences you’ll see are: a resume, clips from the working world and a focused blog topic.

So I will need a new topic to blog about. Editing books every day is awesome (seriously, it’s fun for me like OCDs who enjoy cleaning), but my hobbies include many.

When we move into the apartment today, I’m going to use the work-out facility, conveniently located a short walk from my front door. Perhaps I’ll be talking with you about running. See you soon and keep reading.
